AFRICA/ZIMBABWE - Appointment of the Rector of the Interdiocesan Major Seminary of Harare

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On June 1, 2017 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, , appointed rev. Andrew Lastborn Foto, of the diocesan clergy of Masvingo as Rector of the Interdiocesan Major Seminary in the Archdiocese of Harare (Zimbabwe).
The new rector was born on December 10, 1976 and was ordained a priest on 23 June 2001. After primary school he entered the Chikwingwizha Minor Seminary and then went to Chikwingwizha Maior Seminary, obtaining a degree in philosophy and theology. He then obtained a degree in religious studies at the University of Zimbabwe (1997-2001) and a licentiate and doctorate in biblical theology at Urbaniana University in Rome (2005-2011). Since his ordination, he was Vice parish priest and Pastor in various communities, school chaplain, Bishop's secretary. Since 2015 he was Rector of the St. Kizito Minor Seminary and vocational diocesan promoter. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 06/09/2017)
