AFRICA/SENEGAL - The 2nd Meeting of the Bishops' of Africa on Caritas in mid-September in Dakar

Dakar (Agenzia Fides) - "Organizing charity service in Africa: the role of Bishops" is the theme of the 2nd Meeting of the Bishops' of Africa on Caritas to be held from 17 to 21 September 2017 in Dakar, capital of Senegal.
There will be about 200 people including 100 Cardinals, Archbishops and Bishops at the event organized by Caritas Africa with the support of Caritas Internationalis. Among them are: His Eminence Cardinal Peter Turskon, Prefect of the Congregation for Promoting Human Integral Development, His Eminence Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Archbishop of Manila and President of Caritas Internationalis, His Excellency Monsignor Gabriel Mbilingi, President of the Symposium of the Bishops of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM) and His Excellency Monsignor Gabriel Anokye, President of Caritas Africa.
The opening ceremony will take place on September 18 at King Fahd Palace, in the presence of high state authorities of Senegal.
During the three days of work, participants will discuss various themes, among others, the social dimension of evangelization, the new Department for the Service of Integral Human Development with its implications for the particular Churches and Caritas Africa.
The African Bishop's Assembly on Caritas in Dakar will end with a Mass on Wednesday, September 20th, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Dakar Victories at 6.30 pm in the presence of the faithful.
The previous Assembly of African Bishops on Caritas was held in Kinshasa (RDC) in November 2012. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides, 29/8/2017)
