Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On August 25, 2017, Pope Francis appointed rev. Louis Nguyen Anh Tuan, Director of the Secretariat of the Bishops' Conference of Vietnam as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Thanh-Pho Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, assigning him the titular seat of Catro.
The new Bishop was born on April 6, 1960 in Quang Nam, Da Nang, Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh City. From 1993 to 1999 he attended St. Joseph Major Seminary in Ho Chi Minh City. From 2001 to 2007 he completed his academic studies at the John Paul II Pontifical Institute for Family in Rome. He was ordained a priest on June 30, 1999 for the Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh City.
Since his ordination, he has carried out the following pastoral and academic roles: 1999-2001: Parish Vicar of Phu Nhuan, Ho Chi Minh City; 2001-2007: studies in Rome; 2007-2014: Vice Director of the Pastoral Center of the Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh City; 2009-2014: Secretary of the Episcopal Conference for the Ecclesiastical Province of Ho Chi Minh City; Since 2007: Head of the Commission for Family of the Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh City; Since 2014: Director of the General Secretariat of the Bishops' Conference of Vietnam.
