San José de Los Llanos (Agenzia Fides) - About two months ago, the tabernacle was desecrated and taken away in the parish of San José de Los Llanos. On July 30, Father Christopher Hartley, a diocesan missionary in Toledo, who served in the parish for nearly 10 years as provincial of San Pedro de Macoris, donated a new one that was officially presented by the pastor to the ecclesial community during Sunday Mass.
"It is a pleasure to be able to donate a new tabernacle to the parish", the missionary wrote in the letter sent to the community of Los Llanos. "It safeguards a treasure, God himself, God among us, God in the midst of His people. This tabernacle is worth nothing if it remains empty", adds Fr. Chrtistopher. "I have an indelible memory of the Masses celebrated with you in this parish. I ask you only one thing in return: to pray for me", concludes Fr. Hartley. (CH/AP) (Agenzia Fides, 1/8/2017)
