Chicago (Agenzia Fides) -The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, with headquarters in Chicago and Jerusalem, has launched a fundraising initiative to aid Christians and other persecuted minorities in the Middle East who have been targeted by Islamic terrorists. The campaign, called “Bless the Persecuted,” began last week with an initial $100,000 pledge. The initiative - reports Jewish News Service - seeks to fund financial and medical aid, psychological counseling, and programs for families and children who have been victims of terror and other forms of religious persecution.
"Just as we continue to combat anti-Semitism", said rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, founder and president of Fellowship, "so we must fight this growing persecution against Christians all over the world".
The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews was born in the 1980s thanks to the initiative of US Jews and Evangelical Christians, and then developed its network in other Countries. The Fellowship proposes to promote cooperation among Jews and Christians regarding projects aimed primarily at ensuring the safety of Jews in Israel and other areas of the world. Each year the organization collects about 100 million dollars, half of which are then spent on assistance projects and carried out in Israel. (GV) (Agenzia Fides, 28/7/2017)
