Mansa (Agenzia Fides) - "You women are naturally the first catechisers who communicate faith and morals to us from the earliest stages of our life. Do not neglect this singular honour God has bestowed upon you, especially through the blessed Mother of our Saviour as well as those first witnesses of the empty tomb and missionaries of the Good News. The Church and society in general will continue to look up to you for joyful tidings that rekindle hope, especially in these troubled times of economic hardships, general moral degeneration, injustice and violence – religious, ethnic, political and Gender", says the Bishop of Mansa, His Exc. Mgr. Patrick Chisanga, OFM Conv, commenting on the pastoral theme of the diocese: "We are the missionaries of today".
In the reflection published on the diocese's newsletter, sent to Agenzia Fides, the Bishop paid tribute to "our mothers", called to be the "true primary missionaries", representing the first sign of God's love and nurturance for our entry into this world.
The world is tired of so much depressive material such as famine, diseases, bloodshed, witch-hunting, hate-speech, lies, intolerance, abuse of minors, infidelity to life commitments and all sorts of scandals which come daily Breaking News. "There is no reason why ‘bad news’ should continue to take center stage and to spread everywhere at lightening speed while ‘the Good News’ is relegated into the background and/or never heard at all - writes Mgr. Chisanga -. It is our responsibility as ‘Missionaries of Today’ to champion with enthusiasm the dissemination of the Good News of victory of truth over lies, love over hatred, forgiveness over vengeance, humility over pride, unity over division, and peace over war".
