AFRICA/CAMEROON - Appointment of the Rector of the "Notre Dame de l'Immaculée Conception" Major Seminary

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On May 11, 2017, Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed rev. Jean Paul René Ondoua Omgba, of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Yaoundé as Rector of the "Notre Dame de l'Immaculée Conception" Interdiocesan theological seminary in the Archdiocese of Yaoundé, Cameroon.
The new Rector was born on May 26, 1974 in Okola. After attending public schools, he entered Saint Paul Seminary in Mbalmayo, then the Saints Apotres preparatory Seminary in Otele, and the Immaculate Conception Major Seminary in Nkolbisson. He continued his studies at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Yaoundé and at the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum in Jerusalem, where he obtained his doctorate in biblical sciences and archeology. From 2000 to 2005 he was parish vicar, chaplain of young people, at high schools and colleges. From 2007 to 2013 he was chaplain of the Catholic Franciscan African community at the Patriarchate of Jerusalem and chaplain of the Clare Sisters in Jerusalem. Since 2014 he has been teaching at the theological faculty of the Catholic Institute of Yaoundé and at the Saint Cyprien Theological School of Ngoya. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 9/06/2017)
