Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) - The National Justice and Peace Commission, the Argentine Catholic Action, together with the Department of Laity, the Episcopal Commission for Ecumenism, Relations with Judaism, Islam and the Religious, various national and international associations, in communion with the Argentine Bishops' Conference, once again promote the "One Minute for Peace" initiative to be celebrated on Thursday 8 June at 1pm.
On that day, informs the communiqué sent to Fides, everyone is invited to stop their daily activities and dedicate a minute to reflect, pray according to one’s own religious tradition, and to commit themselves to peace around the world. This "minute" can be lived alone or together with others, on the street or in church, in the family, at school, at work, factory, office ...
"One Minute for Peace" is a simple proposal that everyone can accomplish, that calls to offer one’s prayers and to be promoters of peace, on the third anniversary of the historic meeting between Pope Francis and President Shimon Peres, Israel and Abu Mazen, Palestine, on 8 June 2014 in the Vatican.
At an international level, the initiative is also supported by the International Forum of Catholic Action (FIAC) and the World Union of Catholic Women Organizations (UMOFC). (SL) (Agenzia Fides 5/6/2017)
