Trujillo (Agenzia Fides) - "Venezuela is experiencing a humanitarian crisis, the government is barking up the wrong tree with the proposal of the Constituent Assembly rejected by all citizens", said Mgr. Cástor Oswaldo Azuaje Pérez, O.C.D., Bishop of Trujillo (Venezuela), in a telephone interview to a local newspaper, pointing out that the Country's situation is dramatic and that Venezuela is now governed by a civil-military dictatorship.
While the Bishop of Trujillo denounced the government's policy that continues to cause people's protest demonstrations every day, Bishops from all over America, gathered in San Salvador (see Fides 9/05/2017) have agreed to stand against the government of Maduro, considered to be the sole responsible for the lack of food and medicine in the Country. According to reports from El Salvador media yesterday, the hard-core position of Latin American bishops was taken after the Assembly of CELAM listened to the report of the President of the Bishops' Conference of Venezuela, Mgr. Rafael Diego Padron. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 11/05/2017)
