AMERICA/VENEZUELA - The Vatican is ready to help, only “when the conditions exist for effective and genuine dialogue to resolve the difficulties”

Caracas (Agenzia Fides) – The Holy See is following carefully the delicate situation in Venezuela and is ready to help if and when there are real conditions for effective dialogue and not for a " political show". This was said by Cardinal Jorge Urosa Savino, Archbishop of Caracas, revealing the contents of a telephone call he received on Thursday 20 April from the Holy See’ Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolín. The words of the Cardinal were published in the Venezuelan daily El Nuevo Pais, 21 April edition, and also communicated by the Archdiocese of Caracas on 25 April.
Cardinal Urosa recalled that Pope Francis has already expressed his concern for a peaceful solution to be found for the country’s political crisis and that he is ready to help "if and when there are conditions for effective and genuine dialogue in view of resolving the difficulties" adding, "not to put on a political show ".
