Caracas (Agenzia Fides) - In the last five years the number of children orphaned as a result of the underworld has increased significantly in Caracas. Although there are no official figures of children and adolescents who are without parents, the average is alarming. Considering 10% of homicides registered in the morgue in Bello Monte in the first trimester of the year, a total of 1,600 children and adolescents have been orphaned. A total of 1,334 corpses were recorded between January and March. Of these, 60% correspond to cases of murder of 800 dead parents.
According to the estimates of Cicpc (Cuerpo de Investigaciones Científicas, Penales y Criminalísticas), over the past five years, the country has been considered one of the most violent in the world, with more than 132,000 people killed, and as a result 66,034 children and adolescents orphaned.
