Beijing (Fides Service) - For the Church in China the Eucharist has always been the centre of its life: for Chinese Catholics the Eucharist is an experience of lived faith in Jesus Christ. Catholic communities all over China marked the Year of the Eucharist with times of Adoration and acts of charity and brought the year to a close with special initiatives. We report on some of them.
Seminarians at Shan Xi Regional Seminary organised a special Hour of Adoration inviting local Catholics to join them in the prayers.
Bao Ding diocese, in He Bei the province with the largest Catholic community distributed a special handbook “One Bread” to every parish and organised conferences on Eucharist and Evangelisation and Eucharist and Christian Life. On 23 October in communion with the universal closing of the Year of the Eucharist and World Mission Sunday Catholics went to Mary Queen of China parish church for the opening of a Diocesan Eucharistic Congress with Mass and a solemn Procession with the Blessed Sacrament.
Xi An diocese Shannxi province, closed the Year of the Eucharist with Adoration, Rosary and Holy Mass and Benediction and special Masses were held in the evenings on 22 and 23 October to meet the needs of workers. (Agenzia Fides 19/11/2005 Righe: 24 Parole: 253)
