AFRICA/GHANA - Appointment of the Rector of the "Saint Peter" Regional Seminary in Cape Coast

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On December 8, 2016, Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed rev. Robert Charles Snyper, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Cape Coast as Rector of the "Saint Peter" interdiocesan Seminary in the Archdiocese of Cape Coast, Ghana.
The new Rector was born on August 18, 1964 in Assorku Essaman, and was ordained a priest on November 12, 1994 in Cape Coast. After attending Catholic elementary schools, he entered St. Teresa's Amisano minor seminary, then studied philosophy and theology at St. Paul's Major Seminary in Accra and at St. Peter's regional Seminary in Cape Coast. He holds a bachelor's degree (B.A.) in the study of religions at the University of Ghana. After his ordination he served in parishes in Ghana (1994/97) and the German diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart (1997/2003). He graduated in theology at the University of Tubingen in 2003. Once he returned home he worked as professor at the "Saint Peter" regional seminary, where in 2010 he was appointed Vice rector. He was a member of the Episcopal Commission for Interreligious and ecumenical dialogue and member of the editorial board of "The catholic voice magazine", for which he has written several articles and contributions.
