Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On January 8, 2017 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed rev. Ricardo Eduardo Garcia Loor, of the archdiocesan clergy of Puerto Viejo, as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Ecuador for five years (2017-2022).
The new National Director is 47 years old. He earned a licentiate in Liturgy at San Anselmo Pontifical Liturgical Institute in Rome. He was executive Secretary of the Episcopal Commission for the Liturgy of the Ecuadorian Episcopal Conference. He was parish priest in various parishes and is currently pastor of the parish of San Juan Apostol in Portoviejo, recently created. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 10/01/2017)
