Lisbon (Agenzia Fides) - The Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo, known as Scalabrinians, are celebrating the IX General Assembly of their congregation in Lisbon, which brings together representatives of the various geographical areas where they are present: Albania, Brazil, Angola, South Africa, Bolivia, Honduras, Argentina, Germany, Italy, United States, India, Colombia. The theme of the assembly, which opened on November 17 and will last until November 28, is: "Reorganize to revitalize the Scalabrinian consecrated life: in the centrality to Jesus Christ, in the growth of fraternal relations and the culture of vocations, in view of a greater availability and missionary itinerancy, in service to migrants".
"We are more and more convinced how our mission is the experience of a Church which 'goes forth' - explained Sister Neusa de Fátima Mariano, general superior, in the statement sent to Fides - given the challenges of migration which every continent has and as a consequence requires attention and decision of action. We are aiming at a reorganization of the congregation, which takes account of migration flows, the need for numerical distribution of human resources and of itinerancy, both of members and type of services. For us migration is a resource for humanity, migration is a sign of the times". (SL) (Agenzia Fides 22/11/2016)
