San Diego (Agenzia Fides) - The march of children and immigrant families from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador to the United States, fleeing violence and poverty does not stop. The alarm was launched by the Agency for the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The note sent to Fides says that, on the border between the US and Mexico, in a no man's land where the temperature is approximately 50 degrees, one encounters hundreds of abandoned bodies, often only the bones of people who were trying to find a place where to live with dignity and send their relatives some food. CBP says the alert is high, "it was a very hot season and the temperature is not going down", says the note. Meanwhile, the number of children who are arrested at the border is reaching that of the humanitarian crisis of 2014. In the last three years the border between Texas and Mexico has seen a wave of Central American immigrant children and families without precedent. They run away from their countries of origin, mainly El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, to seek asylum in the United States. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 18/11/2016)
