Lahore (Agenzia Fides) - A new social and educational center in Youhanabad has opened in the entirely Christian Lahore district, upset by a serious attack in front of two Christian churches in 2015. We are talking about the educational center taken care of by the "Cecil Chaudhry & Iris Foundation ", which intends to organize psycho-social education and support programs for disadvantaged children, to improve their personality and confidence and to give a contribution to their families.
"Families of local children manage to barely survive, and the Foundation's activities will be of great benefit", explains to Fides the Catholic Michelle Chaudhry, founder and head of the "Cecil Chaudhry & Iris Foundation".
The Centre has started morning school activities following the Montessori method which currently regard 60 children and accompanies others for afternoon study. There are, then, 50 children and young people who attend the psycho-social training courses in order to improve their confidence in the future and enable them to build their lives, to choose consciously a course of study.
"These projects - says Michelle Chaudhry to Fides – is aimed at children from marginalized communities, with the aim to instill confidence, motivation, awareness and love of their country. In particular, we are involving students from the University of Lahore who work enthusiastically as volunteers and educators". (PA) (Agenzia Fides 03/11/2016)
