ASIA/PAKISTAN - Peace in Kashmir: religious leaders' appeal

Friday, 28 October 2016 peace   violence   human rights   religious minorities

Karachi (Agenzia Fides) – Condemnation of the atrocities committed in Kashmir and a strong plea for peace: is the message spread by the representatives of various faiths, Muslim, Christian and Hindu, gathered in the "All Pakistan Minorities parties and Churches" Conference, held in past days in Karachi.
The appeal sent to Agenzia Fides deplores the violence committed by the Indian army in Kashmir, but also the recent terrorist attack against the police school in Quetta. The conference of leaders denounce "crimes against humanity" committed in Kashmir, and calls on the United Nations and the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to step up their efforts to stop the violence and human rights violations in order to restore peace in Kashmir. "All minorities in Pakistan support the Kashmir population" reads the text. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 28/10/2016)
