Maiduguri (Agenzia Fides) - The northwestern State of Borno, Nigeria, welcomes millions of internally displaced persons. Among these 10 million children have allegedly disappeared to be recruited as terrorists by Boko Haram. The situation of the population in this country is devastating, more than 65 million people suffer from hunger and about one million are at risk. According to United Nations estimates, there are about 250,000 children under 5 years of age in these conditions in Borno. "The population lives in areas controlled either by Boko Haram or by the government, and humanitarian organizations have no access", reads a statement sent to Fides by the NGO Oxfam. Terrorists have caused the internal displacement of thousands of people. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 28/10/2016)
