Faisalabad (Agenzia Fides) – The encyclical 'Laudato Sì', translated in Urdu and distributed to the faithful, is the reference point for the care of environment in Pakistan: said Bishop Joseph Arshad, Pastor of Faisalabad, in a special mass dedicated to the protection of creation, celebrated a few days ago, attended by priests, nuns, teachers, students and representatives of religious and civil associations.
The Bishop stressed that the Church in Pakistan intends to welcome Pope Francis’ thrust who during the Jubilee Year invites us to spread awareness on the care of creation as "new work of mercy".
"The nature created by God is at the benefit of human beings. But man is ruining the creation of God for their own interests. Because of this destruction, we are faced with serious problems such as global warming, industrial pollution and the rise in temperature, which turn against humanity".
Aware of this alarming situation, "the Holy Father invites us to take care of our common home in his encyclical Laudato Sì' ", he remarked.
Mgr. Arshad concluded: "It is urgent to grow in the relationship of mutual responsibility between human beings and nature. Each community can get from the generosity of the earth everything they need, but also has the duty to protect the land and to ensure its fertility for future generations. It is a great cultural, spiritual and educational challenge".
At the end of the mass the encyclical Laudato Sì translated into Urdu was distributed to the faithful. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 21/10/2016)
