Mumbai (Agenzia Fides) - A coffee-library for poor street children was recently opened in India's financial capital called Bombay to Barcelona - and was born from the dream of a former street child, now an adult, who with courage and commitment decided to fulfill his project. The coffee shop opened in mid-August 2016, and welcomes all kinds of people and affordable for everyone. For example, a cup of tea costs only 10 rupees. The coffee shop is frequented by many former street children of Mumbai Snehasadan orphanage. Some also work there. According to a census of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and the organization of volunteers Action Aid India, there are 37,059 children living on the street in Mumbai. Two out of five have suffered physical, sexual or verbal abuse or have suffered famine. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 27/09/2016)
