AMERICA/COLOMBIA - Preventive campaigns against labor and child exploitation in the department of Bolivar

Magangué (Agenzia Fides) - The exploitation of children, is a phenomenon which has always existed in the countries of the Caribbean Coast. To address this emergency, the Colombian Police has promoted a number of campaigns to raise awareness among the inhabitants of the department of Bolívar. "Educational campaigns, addressed to business owners, were launched in the Market in Magangué, municipality of the department, which is the most vulnerable place where one can meet and verify such situations", said a statement issued by the Strategic Communications sector of the Police in Bolívar. Through the delivery of information brochures and awareness meetings for business owners in the various institutes of the department, the Police in Bolívar intends to coordinate appropriate strategies with the Childhood and Adolescence sector, for the integral protection of boys and girls in commercial environments. The prevention and civic education group will extend these campaigns to other municipalities of the department. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 19/09/2016)
