Shen Zhen (Agenzia Fides) - About 30 square meters, a chapel with sober and simple decorations, with benches and copies of the Bible available in order to allow passengers a moment of prayer or meditation: is the description of a prayer hall, a "spiritual oasis", which opened recently in the busiest international airport in Shen Zhen, a free trade area in the south of mainland China.
According to information gathered by Fides, the local press reported that "the opening of the prayer hall is a sign of recognition of the Christian culture, of respect for international guests, facilitating their moral and spiritual needs. Being a city with a large influx of foreigners, the initiative also helps to understand the Christian culture and promote evangelization".
In recent years, several Chinese international airports have set up a prayer hall for Christians, Muslims and believers of various religions, such as Beijing Capital International Airport (with two rooms); Shuang Liu International Airport in Cheng Du, the capital of the province of Si Chuan; Xian Yang International Airport in Xian; in Kun Ming, the capital of the province of Yun Nan; the international airport of Ordos in Inner Mongolia.
The Chinese Christians really appreciate the initiative, and according to some "this is an opportunity to promote faith". (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 06/09/2016)
