Cali (Agenzia Fides) – In the context of the 29th edition of the "Week for Peace" which is celebrated in Colombia from 4 to 11 September (see Fides 01/09/2016), the Archdiocese of Cali, led by its Archbishop, His Exc. Mgr. Darío de Jesús Monsalve Mejía, has prepared several events. The main event will be the meeting, on September 6, on the theme: "From dialogues to reconciliation agreements". This meeting, according to organizers, will have the aim to "provide the community enough tools in order to take informed decisions before the referendum. It will also allow to understand the challenges the Colombian citizenship will have to accept in this new process of transition towards peace, in the construction of collective reconciliation, in the credibility and respect of others who think differently".
The meeting-dialogue will present the experience of the Church in the construction of peace and the importance of reconciliation as an essential tool for peace. The main guest is His Exc. Mgr. Luis Augusto Castro Quiroga, Archbishop of Tunja and president of the Episcopal Conference of Colombia. Other speakers will include Henry Acosta, an economist who works in Cali and is one of the main protagonists of the dialogue between FARC and the Colombian government, and Father José González, Vicar of the archdiocese of Cali for Reconciliation and Peace.
