Nagpur (Agenzia Fides) - "Reach out to the less privileged, to tell them that we recognize them as our brothers and sisters in Christ": in this spirit the Daughters of St. Paul in Nagpur in the Indian state of Maharashtra, celebrated the feast of their patron St. Paul, alongside other religious congregations who work in the city's suburbs to bring "spiritual transformation and economic development in the villages".
As Fides learns, the religious met the faithful of one of the Holy Family parishes, who take care of the spiritual aspect of one hundred Catholic families in two villages. The church, founded 150 years ago, is the second parish of the Archdiocese of Nagpur.
The Daughters of St. Paul "shared both the life and ministry of St. Paul himself through a movie, informing the faithful about the charism of the congregation.
We gave ourselves, in our poverty, and wanted to bring a bit of joy in their lives", said Sister Stella Pereira to Fides. Thanks to the collaboration with the priests of the Poor Servants of Divine Providence institute, during the Eucharist the figure of St. Paul was recalled, "tireless preacher of the Gospel" and "a model for all the baptized of today, called to be missionaries".
The parish of the Holy Family in Nagpur, thanks to the work of the Poor Servants of Divine Providence, now has a medical center and a school for local poor families. (PA-LM) (Agenzia Fides 05/07/2016)
