Shi Jia Zhuang (Agenzia Fides) - The liturgical feasts of the Apostles are in particular felt by the Chinese Catholics, who choose such occasions for many initiatives related to evangelization and pastoral commitment, thus placing them under the special protection of the Saints, and committing themselves to following their footsteps. According to information gathered by Agenzia Fides, the feast of St. Barnabas, on June 11, was celebrated by the Chinese Catholic communities of the continent with many initiatives.
In the Cathedral of Xi Kai of the Diocese of Tian Jin, 93 catechumens received the sacraments of Christian initiation. On the same day the new course of catechesis was inaugurated.
The 22 seminarians of the Minor Seminary of the Archdiocese of Xi An, in the Shaan Xi province, ended their formation course. During the closing ceremony of the school, the rector urged them to continue their vocational journey wherever they are, "some will enter the major Seminary, others will return to their dioceses for pastoral service ... but wherever you are, you must always remember prayer, to live faith in everyday life, in the continuous encounter with the Lord".
Lay groups in the diocese, who have always supported the vocation of the seminarians not only with prayer but also responding to their specific needs, gave young people a backpack and a new Bible. They also watched a video together that recalled some moments of life in the seminary during the year: lessons, spirituality, agape ...
The parish of Li Xi in Tang Shan, in Hu Bei province, made the pilgrimage to the Year of Mercy by going to the parish of Lu Long. Forty faithful went through the Gate of Mercy, prayed and then shared the experiences of faith and mission with the various parish groups (evangelization, charity, social service ...).
