Santo Domingo (Agenzia Fides) - The Catholic Dominican Church expressed its concern because the theme of the family, very timely and especially important in this time of crisis, is not included in the agenda in the Assembly of the Organization of States American (OAS) to be held in the country from June 13 to 15 (see Fides 07/06/2016).
His Exc. Mgr. Victor Emilio Masalles Pere, auxiliary Bishop of Santo Domingo, noted that the issue of transsexuality gender is included in point six of the agenda, while the theme of the family is not even mentioned.
In the meeting with the local press, Mgr. Masalles announced the formation of the new movement "Si Queremos Sostenibilidad" ("We want to be supported"), composed of families engaged in parishes, unions, neighborhoods, religious congregations and many other social organizations of civil society, to support the issue and the problem of the family in the country.
The aim of the movement is to reaffirm that only with good families one is unable to pursue sustainable development. The Bishop invited all to the peaceful march on Sunday June 12 in favor of the family, which will conclude in front of the seat of the OAS Assembly. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 10/06/2016)
