Geneina (Agenzia Fides) – Some students were injured and a school was completely destroyed during a revolt involving children of the schools in the camp for the displaced in Murnei, West Darfur. According to local sources, a medical team arrived unexpectedly in the elementary school, attended by 450 pupils, in Solo. The doctors wanted to medicate children against schistosomiasis, also known as snail fever, caused by a parasite. "The team had not informed the school of their arrival, and this sparked a revolt of the students. The police intervened by firing tear gas and shots in the air to disperse the crowd, injuring some people. The gunfire also triggered a fire that completely destroyed the school made of straw. The 16 classrooms, offices, and an entire warehouse area were all destroyed", says the local source. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 11/05/2016)
