Villahermosa (Agenzia Fides) - The local government of the Mexican state of Tabasco are coming together to address the problem of street children and to find a solution. Although there is a Center of Assistance for Children and Adolescents (CAIMA), created to provide integral social protection to street children and adolescents, in the age group between 10 and 17, at risk of drug addiction, deprived of their family environment and without a permanent home, this center is not used because of the serious gaps that exist in the law. Among other things minors remain only if they want to, and the authorities cannot force them. Currently there are only 9 children at CAIMA. Here they have a place where to sleep, are given clothes, food, medical assistance, do workshops, recreational and cultural activities, sports. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 09/05/2016)
