New York (Agenzia Fides) - A report by the National Center on Family Homelessness (NCFH) revealed that, in 2015, 2 and a half million children in the United States were living in shelters, on the streets, in cars, or in fields without any form of protection. 40% of children and adolescents surveyed in a study published by JAMA Pediatrics gave poverty as the main reason, in addition to conflict and abuse within families. 49 cases were examined out of 13,559 participants from 24 countries, including 21 developing countries. No one was over 24 years of age. 39% attributed the condition of street life to poverty; 32% motivated by family conflicts and 26% to abuse. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 12/04/2016)
