ASIA/SOUTH KOREA - "Come and you will see": a day for vocations in Seoul dedicated to teenagers

Seoul (Agenzia Fides) – Since 2009, the Archdiocese of Seoul celebrates the Day dedicated to vocations, in particular designed and conceived for teenagers: the Catholic Youth Day. As reported to Fides by the communications office of the Archdiocese of Seoul, the Festival, organized by the Department of Youth, in collaboration with the Office for Vocations, aims to help middle school students, busy in dealing with study and the construction of their future, "to recognize the love of God and to strengthen their Christian faith". "Through various programs and activities, the Catholic Youth Day offers Catholic teenagers the opportunity to seek, discern and respond to the Lord’s call", reports the note of the archdiocese.
This year, the Catholic youth Day will take place on April 17 at the Theological Seminary in Seoul. The Festival takes its theme from the passage of John's Gospel: "Come and you will see". About 5,000 students of the capital's parishes are expected to participate in the event. The program of the Day includes games in the morning and experiential workshops: the available area will be divided into three sections which are: the past, the present, the future, and each participant can "explore" the Catholic faith, life as a teenager, future dreams.
In the early afternoon Cardinal Andrew Yeom Soo-jung will preside over the closing Mass. "Young people are valuable assets for the Catholic Church" observes Fr. Peter Yang Jang-ook, Director of the Youth Department of the Archdiocese of Seoul. "We try to offer them the opportunity make the experience of God’s love, joy and mercy".
