Amman (Agenzia Fides) - There are also the relations between the Holy See, the local Churches and civil authorities in the list of topics on the agenda of the Assembly of the ordinary Catholic Bishops of the Holy Land (ACOHL), which began yesterday, 15 March in Amman, at the Visitation Home of the Rosary Sisters. The program of the two days of work, led by the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Fouad Twal, also provides in-depth sessions dedicated to the agreements not yet signed and implemented between the Vatican and Israel, and the activity of the Society of St. Yves, a body of the Latin Patriarchate engaged in the protection of human rights. The Bishops of the Holy Land are called to confront each other even on issues of Catholic schools in Jordan and of those connected with the processes of matrimonial nullity.
Currently in the relations between Israel and the Holy See a bilateral commission is active comprising Israeli and Vatican negotiators, who must regulate the legal status of the Catholic Church in Israel, after the Fundamental Agreement signed in 1993, which allowed to begin diplomatic relations between the Holy See and the State of Israel.
