Salt (Agenzia Fides) - A medical and a dentist clinic, a space for children, fully equipped rooms for further education and professional training: are the services provided by the new center that Caritas Jordan has opened in the city of Salt, to give a concrete contribution to tackling problems and emergencies - medical, humanitarian and educational - that in that area concern the poorest sections of the population and refugees from Iraq and Syria.
The center was inaugurated yesterday in the presence of Archbishop Maroun Lahham, Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, and Dr. Hani Abed, Mufti of the governorate of Balqa, who in his speech emphasized the initiative as an example of concrete fullfillment of the "Amman Message", the text published in 2004 under the patronage of the Hashemite Kingdom.
Caritas Jordan has 15 centers distributed throughout Jordan, where there are 400 employees and about 2 thousand volunteers. The center was also opened with the help of Development and Peace Canada, humanitarian organization linked to the Canadian government. (GV) (Agenzia Fides 10/03/2016)
