Boquete (Agenzia Fides) - A group of Panamanian artists will perform at the "White Night for Children" during the traditional Big Night Gala, the main fundraising event for Casa Esperanza. The collection is intended to support and expand programs that Casa Esperanza carries out in favor of child laborers in Panama. "Despite the great work done to combat child labor, through health and education programs, and the considerable progress achieved, there are about 26,000 child laborers, especially in indigenous regions", explains the executive director of the House in a note sent to Agenzia Fides. Casa Esperanza was founded as an NGO in 1992 thanks to a group of friends who had the goal of eradicating child labor. The members of the NGO directly go houses to explain to families that boys, girls and teenagers should not work. "No to child labor, yes to boys and girls who are respected and protected" is the motto of Casa Esperanza. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 10/03/2016)
