San Francisco (Agenzia Fides) - A gesture of sensitivity, love and solidarity towards the poor who live in the countryside: this is how His Exc. Mgr. Fausto Ramón Mejía Vallejo, Bishop of San Francisco de Macoris, defined the unexpected visits of President Danilo Medina. The statements were made by the Bishop after the Mass for the inauguration of the parish hall of Santa Ana Cathedral, Sunday, February 14, which was also attended by the Head of State, according to information sent to Fides.
Already in his homily, the Bishop had congratulated the President for his surprise visits, saying that it is a noble gesture. "Simply being close to these people is already a truly great act of solidarity" reiterated the Bishop. After the surprise visits of the President, many poor producers receive subsidized loans", which ennobles people", concluded the Bishop. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 18/02/2016)
