Santo Domingo (Agenzia Fides) - The Archbishop Emeritus of the Archdiocese of Santiago de los Caballeros (RD), His Exc. Mgr. Ramón Benito de la Rosa y Carpio, criticized those who have acquired wealth illegally and quickly, and at the same time want to belittle serious and honest work. The Archbishop commented about the situation in the country.
"We all complain about corruption, but people forget work and honesty", said Mgr. De la Rosa, stressing that it is very sad to know that there are people who today do not want to work honestly. The Archbishop insisted that it is very unpleasant to see change of values in the Dominican Republic, where many people want to get rich with minimal effort and very quickly.
According to data collected by Fides, the Dominican society is becoming a negative social model, characterized by violence and organized crime, there is also an increase in crime in neighborhoods and even in schools. Young people prefer the easy way of organized crime to study and honest work. (CE) (Agenzia Fides, 04/02/2016)
