Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On September 19, 2015 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Fr. Shenouda Shafik Andrawes Khalil, of the clergy of the eparchy of El Minia as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Egypt for five years (2015-2020).
The new National Director was born in El Minia on February 5, 1962 and was ordained a priest on 23 December 1990.
He obtained his doctorate in spiritual Theology at the Antonianum in Rome in 2002. He was pastor, professor of philosophy and spiritual theology in various seminaries and faculties, vice-rector and rector of the Coptic Catholic seminary. He is currently Rector of the Faculty of Religious Studies at Sakakini-Cairo, professor of philosophy and spiritual theology, as well as formator at the Coptic Catholic Seminary.
