Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – The Holy Father, Pope Francis, on 24 October 2015, appointed as Bishop of Porto Novo (Benin) Rev. Aristide Gonsallo of the clergy of Parakou, presently Parish priest at S. Martino di Panapé.
The new Bishop was born in Cotonou on 4 September 1966. He was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Parakou, on 27 December 1992. Since his ordination he has served as follows: 1992 to 1997: Docent at Parakou Minor Seminary; 1997 to 2001: Studies specialising in Theology and Modern Letters at the Catholic University of Angers; 2001 to 2003: Docent at Parakou Minor Seminary; 2003 to 2004: Doctorate in Theology at the Catholic University of Angers; 2004 to 2008: Docent at Parakou Minor Seminary; 2008 to 2012: Masters and Doctorate in Modern Letters and the State University of Angers; 2013 to 2015: Parish priest at Parakou de Panapé and Chaplain at the Diocesan Hospital, also charged with the reorganisation of the diocesan health service.
