AMERICA/HONDURAS - Mgr. Emiliani denounces the "violent reactions in the face of any situation"

Wednesday, 23 September 2015

San Pedro Sula (Agenzia Fides) - A plea for tolerance and to work for peace was launched by the Auxiliary Bishop of San Pedro Sula, His Exc. Mgr. Rómulo Emiliani Sánchez, C.M.F., on Monday, September 21, on the occasion of the International Day of Peace, established by the UN in 1981.
The note sent to Fides from a local source informs that Mgr. Emiliani wanted to specifically talk about the topic following the recent events which have divided public opinion regarding the violence among Hondurans (see Fides 21/09/2015). The Archbishop complained that levels of tolerance are not only decreasing, but there are violent reactions in the face of any situation: "There are many physical assaults that start from a simple discussion".
The Bishop urged us to reflect on the dangerous contagion of violent behavior which can currently be observed. "Faced with this situation, we must promote reconciliation and peace".(CE) (Agenzia Fides 23/09/2015)
