Guang Xi (Fides Service) - Over the past two months various regions of south east China have been affected by serious floods. Local Catholic communities have joined people of other faiths and local authorities to assist the victims. Catholics in the diocese of Nan Ning, Guang Xi province told, Faith bulletin published in Hebei: “In our diocese alone more than 600 people lost their homes and are now living in tents made available by the local authorities. We went to visit them to see the situation and damage and assess the most urgent needs. We made a list of families in need in each parish so as to organise the distribution of aid and we are working with people of other faiths. As the Catholic community we manage to collect over 300 Euro and 2,000 blankets and articles of clothing. We are a poor province and a poor Church but we do our best to help and rely also on help from other Catholic communities.” (Agenzia Fides 25/7/2005 Righe: 15 Parole: 201)
