Vatican City (Fides Service) - “I believe God always does the right thing at the right time. It is true, as the new Pope Benedict XVI said, the Lord works also through imperfect instruments, but for us He also finds the right instrument”, said Cardinal Telesphore Toppo, archbishop of Ranchi and President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India which comprises Bishops of all three Latin, Syro-Malabar and Syro-Malankar rites present in India. “After John Paul II, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger appears to me to be the natural heir in every sense. This is an event of great joy and hope for the Church in India. I can say that the Indian people thank God for this great gift to the Church and the world, in the person of Benedict XVI” the Cardinal told Fides.
