AFRICA/GUINEA BISSAU - Catholics in Guinea Bissau shed tears as they pray for the Pope

Saturday, 2 April 2005

Bissau (Fides Service)- “Yesterday the church was filled with people who had come to pray for the Pope and I saw many faces lined with tears” said Italian PIME missionary Father Dioniso Ferraro, parish priest at Our Lady of Fatima parish in Bissau, capital of Guinea Bissau. “Catholics in Guinea are deeply moved to learn that the Pope is now so seriously ill and they flock to church to pray. The Pope is dearly loved. This morning I prayed morning prayers with a group of young people and many said their own personal prayers for the Holy Father out loud”. (L.M.)
