OCEANIA/AUSTRALIA - New monthly newsletter on the Internet on Mission and Spirituality, information service for Australian Catholics

Thursday, 10 March 2005

Sydney (Fides Service) - Internet is increasingly a field for evangelisation and the Australian Church is making an effort to follow the indications of the Holy Father who has repeatedly said, also recently in his message for Communications Day, that Christians must take the opportunity offered by the new means of communication. With this in mind the Church in Australia launched a monthly newsletter Mission & Spirituality News, dedicated to mission, intended to encourage, and offer news and resources to Catholic communities all over Australia acting as a means of connection and sharing.
The objective is to help parishes fulfil their evangelising mission and become place where people grow in the faith. The newsletter will focus on the laity and the contribution they can offer to new evangelisation in Australia.
One of the promoters is Church Resources Network (formerly Catholic Telecommunications) which offered the necessary technical resources and the Broken Bay Institute, known for the quality of its formation and education.
One of the main articles in the first edition of the newsletter is about lay women involved in social services, hospitals, schools, reporting on the activity of the Commission for Australian Catholic Women.
