Friday, 4 September 2015

Nairobi (Agenzia Fides) - "On behalf of the Bishops, I am happy to announce that the Holy Father has accepted our invitation and will visit Kenya in November". This is the official announcement of the Bishops of Kenya that Pope Francis will visit their country, accepting the invitation from them presented during their Ad Limina visit in April this year.
In the letter, signed by Mgr. Philip Anyolo, Bishop of Homa Bay and President of the Episcopal Conference of Kenya, sent to Agenzia Fides, Pope Francis' visit is described as a State visit. The Bishops will cooperate with state authorities to ensure that the visit is conducted in the best possible way.
"Dear Christians we will inform you of the exact details of the visit to welcome the Holy Father", said Mgr. Anyolo, asking the faithful to pray for the Pope's visit and "for justice and peace based on God's love" in Kenya.
Pope Francis will arrive in Nairobi on November 25 and will stay for two days. The program includes a meeting with the President at his official residence, the Eucharistic celebration, a meeting with the clergy and religious, a visit to the local offices of the United Nations and to the slums of the capital.
The Holy Father will then travel to Kampala (Uganda) and Bangui, capital of the Central African Republic. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 04/09/2015)
