AMERICA/BRAZIL - Scalabrinians: international meeting to find new answers to the issue of migration

Friday, 28 August 2015

Porto Alegre (Agenzia Fides) - Migration and the responsibility of how many have the task of being leaders in the scalabrinian female congregation: This is the main theme of the meeting of the Missionary Scalabrinian Sisters who have gathered in Porto Alegre, Brazil, until August 31. The participants are from Albania, Italy, USA, Mexico, Ecuador, the Philippines and Brazil and compose the general government and the provincial governments of the congregation, as well as the International Committee of communication and the Commission to draft a missionary project.
"This meeting – explains Sister Neusa de Fátima Mariano, Superior General, in a note sent to Agenzia Fides - has the goal to strengthen unity and communion among the various teams of the government and address the issue of migration, which is rather complex and requires new answers". The general councillor for communication, Sister Elizabeth Pedernal emphasizes: "As Scalabrinian sisters the digital world is essential in view of evangelization, because it simplifies the proximity with the communities in mission in the 27 Countries where we are present". "Migration in the world is seen as a concern and a challenge, as Scalabrinians we are called to respond to God among migrants and to find Jesus in our every day reality" says Sister Albertina Pauletti, general councilor of the apostolate.
