ASIA/PAKISTAN - Asia Bibi case: her father will be able to visit her in prison

Lahore (Agenzia Fides) - Soran Masih, Asia Bibi's father, will be able to visit her in prison: yesterday, August 24, the Lahore High Court in fact accepted the request made by the man, who asked for permission to see his daughter, who has been sentenced to death for blasphemy and now locked up in a prison in Multan. As reported to Fides by Christian laywer Sardar Mushtaq Gill, who presented the petition to the court, the man was confirmed access to the prison by the ministry of the interior of Punjab and the Superintendent of the prison.
Asia Bibi, a Christian mother of five children, is on death row and her case is in the hands of the Supreme Court that, in July, declared the admissibility of her appeal and has suspended the death sentence.
Her husband Ashiq, the family’s guardian Joseph Nadeem and, with special permission, her children are the only ones allowed to visit her. Even Rehana Bibi, Asia’s sister would like to visit the woman with Soran. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 25/08/2015)
