Tegucigalpa (Agenzia Fides) - The national community has to solve major social problems that plague this country, relaunching dialogue in politics: it what the editorial of the weekly "Fides" of the capital of Honduras, the main organ of the Catholic press in the country reports.
"The main objective of politics is to promote the dignity and fundamental rights of the human person. Political commitment is to take specific decisions, plan programs, participate in campaigns, exercise power at the service of citizens. Therefore political activity, in short, has to be directed to the practice of charity, namely the love of one’s neighbor". The text of the weekly invites everyone to reflect on how to stop corruption and violence that seem to grow each day in the country.
"The history of Honduras, in the last century was characterized by hatred, resentment, revenge and divisions that led to the fratricidal armed struggle", the text continues, noting "the huge disparity among Hondurans": "In the abysmal inequality regarding income distribution, 20% of the population, the richest, takes almost 60% of revenues, while 24% of the poorest population has access to only 3% of the revenue of the country".
"Corruption means stealing the opportunity for the poor to have food, health, education, housing and employment", concludes the text. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 27/06/2015)
