Mexico City (Agenzia Fides) - A card for the priests of the ecclesiastical provinces of Tlalnepantla and Mexico will be issued in order to distinguish true priests from false priests and to fight the scams perpetrated by people who usurp the identity of priests and religious who deceive parishioners, offering religious services, upon payment.
The phenomenon of "false priests" is on the rise across the Country. These scammers go to hospitals, cemeteries and churches outside the city center. Carlos Villa Roiz, deputy director of the Social Communications of the Archdiocese of Mexico, said that "it is not known how many false priests there are because it is like asking how many thieves are there in Mexico City?".
"Many are well prepared and try in particular to celebrate the sacraments, such as weddings and baptisms, out of churches, in private premises, demanding enormous sums", he concluded. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 13/06/2015)
