AMERICA/ARGENTINA – Child nutrition, drugs and poverty: meeting of Bishops and authorities of Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) - Yesterday, Wednesday, May 27, the governor of Buenos Aires, Daniel Scioli had a meeting with the Bishops of the various dioceses of the province of Buenos Aires. The meeting, which is becoming a tradition, was organized to address various issues of concern about the social situation.
After the meeting, which was also attended by members of government of the province, the Bishop of Avellaneda-Lanús, His Exc. Mgr. Ruben Frassia Academy, pointed out that "relevant issues were discussed, that we believe should be answered by authorities in order to establish dialogue, which is profitable for both". The Bishop stated that "the issues were education, drugs, violence, work, the things the government does and the shortcomings that we can see". He added that some issues are urgent: "Poverty, values, young people, the importance of nutrition".
The Archbishop of the Diocese of La Plata, His Exc. Mgr. Héctor Rubén Aguer was unable to attend the meeting, due to a double hip fracture. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 28/05/2015)
