AMERICA/MEXICO – Mgr. Moreno Barron’s appeal: Go and vote, do not sell your vote

Wednesday, 20 May 2015

Tlaxcala (Agenzia Fides) - A few days before the elections to be held on 7 June His Exc. Mgr. Francisco Moreno Barron, Bishop of Tlaxcala, has accused politicians of being responsible for what happens in Tlaxcala, namely the fact that people do not have confidence in institutions and public officials. He also recommended politicians to keep promises made during the election campaign.
At the same time Mgr. Moreno Barron has asked the people to go to the polls and not to sell their votes to any political party or candidate.
A march in favor of life took place a few days ago, which involved more than 15,000 people and during this event the Bishop and Catholic groups asked the community to defend and respect life and environment. "In our society violence is widespread, there is a lack of basic services, such as health services; there is also constant inequality that continues to grow, and this encourages distrust", said the Bishop. "The idea is to invite everybody to understand that we have to face challenges without being discouraged, without escaping, but participating, and doing it in a very concrete way and honest way", he concluded (CE) (Agenzia Fides 20/05/2015)
